It is a privilege to lead a school community and I am deeply honoured and committed to leading the next stage of school improvement at Gordon Primary School.
There are three things that drive my educational leadership. Wellbeing, collaborative partnerships and inclusive, leading practice. These three aspects support school communities to learn, grow and thrive together. Positive partnerships with families through a child’s education are one of the key pillars to collectively developing children as learners. The family is a child’s first and most important teacher. Together we can do great things for this next generation of young people.
With children at the forefront, it is our incredible classroom teachers and support staff that have the most significant impact on learning within the school environment. With this in mind, I work very closely with the leadership team to maximise wellbeing in the workplace. I see wellbeing for staff in schools, as creating the best possible conditions for staff to do their job to the best of their ability. This includes various aspects such as professional learning, coaching and mentoring, resourcing and shared understanding of the vision and improvement agenda for the school. In the coming weeks and months, I will share the new strategic plan (2022-2026) that will commence at the beginning of next year.
The school improvement plan will primarily focus on implementing leading practice in teaching and learning and continue developing personal and social capabilities of all children. I am confident that we can achieve excellence for all children with your continued support. Collaborative partnerships are key to improvement. The community spirit and strength of relationships that are already in place is an asset to Gordon Primary and I know this will be significant to supporting us to hit the ground running with the new plan in 2022.
I join the Gordon team as an experienced principal and educational leader. I have spent most of my career in Tuggeranong schools. I love the culture, energy and warm tone that is evident from the moment you walk in the front door. I feel incredibly welcomed by the staff at Gordon and I very much look forward to connecting with you as restrictions continue to ease and we return to on-campus learning.
I welcome anyone who is interested in enrolling a child at Gordon Primary School – Preschool to Year 6 to contact the front office on 6142 2530.
